Biography
Born in Boston, Andy Buckley was recruited by Stanford University to play on their NCAA golf team. While studying both economics and political science there, he performed in a few plays and chose to pursue a career in acting, moving to New York City upon his graduation. He landed small roles on hit television series in the 1990s including “Melrose Place” and “The West Wing.” After 10 years as an occasional working actor, Buckley decided to venture into the world of finance in the early 2000s, taking a Financial Advisor position at Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles. Realizing he had a passion for both careers, Buckley found a way to keep one foot firmly planted in both the financial and creative worlds. While maintaining his position with Merrill Lynch, he is best known for playing David Wallace on seven seasons of “The Office” opposite Steve Carrell. Recently Andy starred opposite Jill Kargman on the acclaimed Bravo comedy “Odd Mom Out,” and prior to that, was a regular for 2 seasons on the ABC Family/Freeform drama “The Lying Game.” He’s recurred as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ boyfriend, Ted Cullen, on “Veep,” billionaire tech investor Richard Elia on the CBS show “Scorpion” and also on the acclaimed Hulu show “Casual.” Other guest appearance include “Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Silicon Valley,” the recent season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and Ryan Murphy’s “9-1-1." His many film credits include “The Other Guys,” “Bridesmaids,” “Life as We Know It” and “Horrible Bosses 2,” the critically acclaimed “Ladybird” and the international blockbuster “Jurassic World.” In his most recent movie, he again co-starred with Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler in the New Line Comedy, “The House.” In 2019 Andy joined the cast of Armando Ianucci’s (“Veep”) highly anticipated new HBO series “Avenue 5”. Buckley is also active in helping to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Denver’s National Jewish Health. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, who is an acting coach, and their two children.
