Biography
Known as “the Phil Jackson of the Fairways” Dr. Joe Parent has coached the mental game in golf, business and life for over 25 years. A distinguished PGA Tour Instructor, he has attracted such clients as Masters and PGA Champions Vijay Singh and David Toms. Joseph Parent is also the author of the bestselling ZEN GOLF: Mastering the Mental Game. ZEN GOLF quickly rose to the top of the list as the bestselling instructional golf book in America. There are currently over 250,000 copies in print world-wide, including foreign editions in seven different languages. Golf Digest described it as “Soothing and enlightening, entertaining and provocative, highly original and exciting… destined to become a classic.” Joseph Parent has also authored ZEN PUTTING and Golf: The Art of the Mental Game. After completing his Ph.D. in psychology in 1979, Dr. Joe began bringing his insights in mindful awareness to golf and business. Today, Joe Parent has become a highly regarded and sought-after instructor of the mental game, teaching the path to success in golf and other sports, as well as in business and life. While modern psychology pointed out self-defeating patterns of behavior, mindful awareness provided the most profound methods to transform them. Joe Parent has worked with hundreds of professional and amateur golfers and other athletes: from beginners to world champions, from age 7 to 87, as well as top executives seeking cutting-edge business insights. Joseph Parent has been a highly regarded keynote speaker at corporate, celebrity and charity events hosted by companies such as Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, Dreyfus, Bank of America, UBS, Wachovia, PGA of America, the Tiger Woods Foundation, the First Tee Foundation and many others. Joe Parent’s presentations entertain, enlighten and inspire, pointing the way to more consistency, less frustration, and greater success in business, golf, and life. Dr. Joe Parent has been featured on CNN, NBC’s Today Show, HBO Sports, ESPN as well as numerous appearances on The Golf Channel. Joe Parent’s ZEN GOLF book has been featured in a well known MasterCard “Priceless” ad, and had its own cameo appearance being read by Ray Romano on Everybody Loves Raymond. Joseph Parent also coaches Ray Romano, Kevin James, Malcolm McDowell, Gary Sinise, Michael O’Keefe (Danny Noonan in Caddyshack) and many other celebrity golfers. As a result of both his written works and instruction of PGA Tour players, Golf Digest named Dr. Joe to their first list of “Top Ten Mental Game Experts” in the world, and the July 2005 issue featured him in their popular instructional section: Breaking 100-90-80 and 70. Dr. Joe Parent resides and teaches in Ojai, California.
