Biography

Mo is an Arab American stand-up comedian, writer, and producer who, in October 2018, debuted The Vagabond, his first one-hour stand-up special on Netflix. Most recently, Mo can be seen as a regular on the Hulu Original series Ramy, which premiered in April of 2019. Additionally, Mo can be seen starring alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the upcoming D.C. film Black Adam. A pioneer in Arab American stand-up, Amer’s humor consists of observational comedy, political satire, and race related material, heavily drawing on autobiographical elements as well as a unique, improvised conversational style. He tells his unusual, circuitous life story, detailing how he managed to travel the world without a passport for years before finally becoming a U.S. Citizen after two decades; had an American Soldier pulls a gun on him (at a military show) in Iraq; and once had Bradly Cooper (unintentionally) save him in the Middle East. Additionally, Mo has toured extensively with mentor Dave Chappelle, performing over 2000 shows together. Mo’s stand-up career has taken him to more than three dozen countries across five continents. He has been featured in Rolling Stone and Variety’s lists of “Top Ten Comedians You Need to Know.” Following his late-night debut on CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Mo’s television appearances have included spots on Comedy Central’s @Midnight, Tru TV’s Comedy Knockout, HBO’s Crashing, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and The Daily Show. Mo is the first and only Arab American Refugee comic to perform for U.S. and Coalition troops overseas. His international sold-out shows include performances at the Royal Albert Hall (London), Hammersmith Apollo (London), Acer Arena (Sydney), Nelson Mandela Theatre (Johannesburg), The Paramount (Austin), and the Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles).
