Biography
Peter Jacobsen represents everything a professional athlete and committed community leader should be. Through the years he has used his talents and status to transcend the game of golf and touch the lives of many. He’s a fierce competitor, consummate entertainer, community leader, passionate executive, and a caring family man. Peter is a 46-year member on the PGA TOUR, and a 18-year member of the PGA TOUR Champions. He has served as Player Director for the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, and has provided insight into the game as a roving reporter for the 1991 Ryder Cup matches on NBC, and a television analyst for The Skins Game and The Match. He is currently a member of NBC Sports’ golf broadcasting team, providing on-air analysis at PGA TOUR events throughout the year. On TOUR, he represents several companies and products including Lexus, Cleveland Golf / Srixon, Golf Live Navigators, aboutGOLF, and Golden Tee Live. Off the course, Peter wrote and co-starred in two successful TV shows, “Peter and Friends” and “Peter Jacobsen Plugged In,” which ran for three seasons each on The Golf Channel. He also authored two books, “Buried Lies: True Tales and Tall Stories From the PGA TOUR,” published in 1993 and “Embedded Balls,” published in 2005. He is currently the host of the Jake’s Takes Podcast. Peter joined forces with fellow TOUR pros Payne Stewart and Mark Lye to form the band, Jake Trout and the Flounders, in 1988. They released two albums, PGA Players: Sing Their Way to the Green (1989) and I Love To Play (1998), before disbanding upon Stewart’s death in 1999. Peter continues to contribute to the music-world through his collaborations with the Braun Brothers (members of the bands Reckless Kelly and Micky and the Motorcars), and has written and released three original songs under the name Jake Trout and the Ballwashers. “Cheers & Boos” (2013), “It’s a Jungle in Here” (2016), and “I’m Gonna Miss Johnny Miller” (2019). Peter is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Peter Jacobsen SPORTS, a sports marketing firm that has produced more than 300 events worldwide since its’ inception in 1988. PJS currently provides sports marketing, brand activation, event management, and consulting services for clients like Lexus, Ketel One Vodka, The University of Oregon, B.U.L.L. Session, and The Langley. Peter’s business acumen also extends to golf course design. As a principal of the Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design Company, he co-designed The Oregon Golf Club in West Linn, Ore.; The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing in Truckee, Calif.; Brasada Canyons Golf Club in Powell Butte, Ore.; Blackhorse Golf Club in Cypress, Tex.; and Rope Rider Golf Club in Suncadia, Wash. In addition to the numerous professional victories Peter earned during his career, he has played on five National teams, including the 1985 and 1995 U.S. Ryder Cup team. Peter currently resides in Bonita Springs, Florida with his wife Jan. They have three children and four grandchildren.
