Biography

A Super Bowl champion wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, Jordy Nelson has transformed into an elite wide receiver and one of Aaron Rodgers' top targets in just four years. After growing up on his parents' farm in Kansas, Jordy Nelson is one of the few NFL players who truly feels at home in Green Bay. Nelson's small town background immediately endeared him to Packer fans. Now his stellar play at wide receiver has made him a star. Picked in the second round of the of the 2008 NFL Draft, Nelson spent the better part of three seasons waiting in the wings behind several talented veteran receivers. Finally given his chance to shine in Super Bowl XLV, Nelson did not disappoint. When it was all said and done, Nelson posted an amazing nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown. His banner day ranks as one of the greatest performances by a receiver in Super Bowl history. Nelson's strong play carried into the 2011 season. In a Packers' offense known to spread the ball around, Nelson finished the season ranked among the NFL's elite in both receiving yards and touchdowns. Together since sixth grade, Nelson and wife Emily are the proud parents of their two-year-old son, Royal. The Nelson's have donated much of their time and efforts to charitable organizations such as the Bay Area Humane Society, Families of Children with Cancer, Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, Boys and Girls Club of Fox Valley, and the Donald Driver Foundation. Additionally, Emily Nelson has donated countless hours running a mentoring program at Fort Howard Elementary School in Green Bay. Jordy has continued to stay close to his Kansas roots and on February 17, 2011 he was honored when it was declared "Jordy Nelson Day" in Kansas by Governor Sam Brownback.
